Sheffield, Iowa, is located in Franklin County. Sheffield, the second largest town in Franklin County, was founded by C. C. Gilman, owner of the Eldora Railroad and Coal Company in 1875. The city was then incorporated on April 8, 1876. The current population is 1,130, per the 2020 census.
